The Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association (IEYDA) has called on all Kwarans to maintain peace and order as they exercise their civic duty tomorrow, Saturday, 21st September, 2024, in the local government elections across the 16 local government areas of Kwara State.
Through a statement made available to the Pressmen and jointly signed by the National President of the association, Alh. Abdullahi Babatunde Salau and the National Publicity Secretary, Alh. Mohammed Uthman Jagunma, IEYDA reminded the general public about the importance of conducting themselves peacefully and lawfully.
According to IEYDA, the local government elections will provide opportunities for Citizens to shape the future of their local communities, and they must ensure that this process is carried out without hindrance or violence.
IEYDA appealed to all stakeholders, particularly voters, to cooperate fully with the officers of the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC) and security Personnel deployed to ensure the smooth conduct of the elections, reiterating that their cooperation will guarantee a credible and hitch-free electoral process.
IEYDA enjoined the Security Personnel to discharge their duties professionally and impartially; and charged them to ensure all voters can exercise their franchise without intimidation or harassment.
IEYDA urges all Kwarans to join hands in promoting a violence-free and orderly electoral process, work together to strengthen our democracy and build a better future for Kwara State.
