Honourable Minister for Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, has received a delegation from the Open Government Partnership Nigeria. The team, led by the co-chair (non-state actor), Mrs. Obialunnanma Nnaobi-Ayodele discussed issues pertaining to their partnership with the Nigerian Government since its institution in 2016
Mrs Obialunnanma provided the Honourable Minister with an overview of the achievements of the OGP. These accomplishments include enhancing budget transparency through citizen budgeting, implementing the Freedom of Information Act in over 20 States, and encouraging State membership to adopt Open Government Partnership alongside civil society groups, among others.
She also highlighted the current challenges faced by the initiative, and sought the Minister’s support to realize the pending program timelines and objectives.
In response, the Honourable Minister who has since been named Co-Chair; State Actors, expressed his gratitude to the delegation, commending their efforts to strengthen the relationship between the government and civil society. He committed to dedicating his time and resources as Co-Chair to achieving the objectives outlined in the National Action Plan.
