On February 20, 2025, the Honourable Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, met with AFD Country Director, Xavier Muron, to discuss AFD’s past initiatives and future plans in Nigeria.
AFD outlined its contributions to ECOWAS agricultural policies and its involvement in Nigeria’s dairy sector, rural mobility, and value chain analysis. Discussions focused on key intervention areas, including cold chain storage, market connectivity, and livestock personnel training.
The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to resettling pastoralists in grazing reserves and urged AFD to support their development into sustainable livestock hubs.
