A two hour gun battle ensued last night in Rabah between bandits and security personnel comprising soldiers, police officers, Mobile Police (MOPOL), and members of the newly formed Community Guard.
During the confrontation, the bandits reportedly burned a newly acquired security vehicle provided by the state government and inflicted injuries on some security personnel.
The attack began when the bandits, who had earlier emerged from Riji village in Maikujera ward, stormed Rabah after killing a resident and stealing thousands of livestock. Security forces successfully repelled the assailants, preventing them from advancing into the town.
Despite the damage and injuries, local residents praised the efforts of the security personnel, who fought valiantly to thwart the attack.
