It is an umbrella of about ten registered associations along the livestock value-chains. Issues discussed included but not to limited to the mandate of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development which are livestock sector modernization, improvement in animal health and transboundary disease management, ease of internal livestock trade and the ultimate vision to develop the capacity to process and package meat to market basins rather than trading in live animals.
Some of the challenges raised included multiple taxation along major routes which leads to higher livestock and food stuff prices paid by the final consumers. Some of these extortions are by non state actors.
I also inspected the new Maiduguri Livestock model market being constructed by the Borno State Government.
