I am attending the African Union Inter- African Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR) Platform holding in Nairobi, Kenya 16th to 18th January 2025. The engagmemt is on African Pastoral Market Development funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
The focus is on supporting policy development, fostering inclusive development, market driven and adaptive transfromations in the pastoral communities. Nigeria and Kenya are choosen as the Light Houses for this initiative while six other countries are to be the reach-out countries of the four year duration project.
Other objectives of the project are to push for private sector integration in the pastoral markets, empowering women and youths and supporting food and nutrition security of the country as well as strengthening resilience and climate- smart transformation of the livestock sector in the Sahelian sub-region.
