The Hon.Minister of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, is seeking collaboration with relevant agencies and stakeholders in the quest to realize the mandate of his Ministry.
The Minister told visiting Director General of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Prof. Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso, that collaboration between the Ministry and relevant stakeholders is critical to the development of the livestock sector.
Maiha emphasised that research must speak to the market for the benefit of all the players in the sector.
Moving forward, the Minister set up a five-man committee to identify specific areas of research and collaboration, particularly with a view to enhancing the sector’s value- chain development including the quantity and quality of Livestock production, meat and milk processing as well as feed, fodder and water among others.
Speaking earlier, the Director General of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council, Prof. Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso told the minister that his council is in a good position to partner the ministry in key areas of value-chain development, especially in milk processing, hides, and skin as well as feeds.
The Director General invited the Minister to visit the RMRDC complex in Abuja for an on the spot assessment of the activities of the Council.
