The Honourable Minister of State for Regional Development, His Excellency Uba Maigari Ahmadu, paid a crucial courtesy visit to the office of the Hon. Minister of Agriculture and Food Security. They had a meeting which underscored their shared commitment to fostering collaboration between the two ministries to advance agricultural development in alignment with national objectives, particularly within the North-East, North-West, and the proposed North-Central commissions.
Discussions centred on strategic initiatives aimed at sustainable agricultural transformation, including the Metal to Green House Project, the establishment of Farm Training Centers, and the implementation of Youth Empowerment, Vocational, and Apprenticeship Programs. Special emphasis was placed on climate-smart agriculture, with a targeted focus on empowering women, marginalized groups, and community-based hubs.
In reaffirming the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security’s commitment to this partnership, @SenatorAKyari emphasized the urgency of operationalizing the Metal to Green House Project. To this end, he appointed a supervisor to oversee immediate steps, including the formation of a technical team and the identification of pilot sites for implementation.
Additionally, the Hon. Minister of Agriculture and food security have asked the Permanent Secretaries of both ministries to maintain close coordination to ensure continued dialogue, periodic progress reviews, and the smooth implementation of these initiatives. Together, they aim to drive impactful change that supports sustainable agricultural development and national food security.
