President Tinubu’s livestock reforms have started yielding results as the Pioneer Minister of Livestock, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, commissions an animal mineral salt lick factory in Zaria. The opening ceremony was witnessed by the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmad Nuhu Bamali, along with other dignitaries from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) and the Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (KADCIMA).
Moor Lick, a private business venture, manufactures salt lick for ruminants. Under the Renewed Hope Agenda, the livestock sector has been revitalized, giving manufacturers the confidence to expand. As a result, Moor Lick has installed a new plant with the capacity to produce 800 blocks of 10kg salt lick per hour, significantly reducing reliance on imported salt licks.
Mineral salt licks play a vital role in boosting animal health, improving productivity, and enhancing the immune system, ultimately increasing farmers’ income. The Managing Director/CEO of the factory, Dr. Alimi Bello, expressed gratitude to the Tinubu administration for establishing the Ministry of Livestock Development, which has given tremendous hope to livestock farmers and investors across the sector’s vast value chain.
